Preparation, enhancement of permeability, and anti-biofouling properties of PEES/nano-silver/PVP mixed-matrix membrane

Abstract This study investigated the separation of bovine serum albumin using a novel matrix mixed membrane composed poly vinyl pyrrolidone and (phenylene ether sulfone)/Nano-silver. The responsive bare modified PEES/Nano-silver membranes were evaluated morphology, wettability, XRD ATR-FTIR. molecular weight cut-off (MWCO), water content, mean pore radius, porosity, pure flux used to evaluate presentation membranes. outcomes show that wettability is increased by addition PVP, which promotes formation hydrogen bonds. Its clear are more hydrophilic than based on their performance. In addition, model foulants such (BSA) E. coli assess efficacy anti-fouling properties. PVP loading results in diversified surface morphology with asymmetric structure higher (4.35 × 10 −5 ms −1 ) pristine (2.23 as reference at 3.5 bar without compromising rejection membrane. recovery ratio for PEES/PVP/Nano-Silver 97%, significantly PEES/Nano-Silver (62%). Furthermore, fluorescence microscopy showed that, compared clean membranes, have biofouling activities.
